A little about Jennifer Lacey: Jennifer has dedicated her lifelong career to Public Safety (Police/Fire/EMS), wearing multiple hats as an educator, provider & mentor be it employed and/or volunteer position. Jennifer holds a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Law Enforcement, Ethnic Studies and Foreign Language Studies focusing in Spanish and Hmong.
Jennifer’s passion for the public safety field started at a young age. Jennifer was a Police Explorer with Eagan Police and a Fire Explorer with Eagan Fire Department. In 1990, by the age of 16 she had earned her certification as a First Responder and CPR Instructor. She obtained her EMT certification in 1997, which allowed her to branch out into Emergency Medical Services. In 1998 Jennifer became a Lab Instructor and State Examiner for both Northwestern Health Sciences University and Opportunities In Emergency Health Care.
In 2008 Jennifer started her own business, Lacey’s Lifesavers & ABC Rescue LLC., where she has offered numerous classes and certifications for emergency medical services ranging from First Aid to EMT & EMT refresher through the American Heart Association.
Sometime during the last 26 years you or your children may have seen Jen’s beautiful smiling face at the Minnesota Zoo where she has been a Health & Safety Officer providing medical & security throughout the Zoo’s property. She has made many fur friends along the way .
Accomplishments & Volunteerism: Jennifer has spent countless hours volunteering with youth organizations to include the Boy Scouts of America Law Enforcement Explorer Program and with Opportunities in Emergency Care (OEC) high school program located in the Anoka/Blaine area. Lacey also racks up volunteer time providing medical coverage and care for some well-known organizations such as, the Twin Cities Roller Derby & Minnesota Roller Derby since 2005 & the Minnesota Street Rod Association “Back to the Fifties” car show weekend since 2008. In 2022, Jennifer found the New Richland Ambulance Service in SE Minnesota where she provides ambulance 911/ BLS ambulance services for the surrounding communities. Since 2022, Jennifer has been committed to being a diversified Special Deputy-officer with the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office where she responds to multiple situations assisting HCSO with medicals, security details & water patrol just to name a few.
As you can see, not only does Jennifer work in Public safety, she also volunteers in Public Safety!
Both Jennifer and her late husband Dan shared a passion for volunteering and giving back to their community, be it local or abroad on medical mission trips. Jennifer has been on SEVEN medical mission trips, most recently this July. Not many know but just a little over 36 hours after receiving the devasting diagnosis of Breast Cancer, Jennifer was on a plane heading to the Dominican Republic with a team of doctors, nurses and other volunteers to provide medical services to families in need in the Dominican. Jennifer has always gone above and beyond to provide care for others.
Hard work, compassion for others and living by the Golden Rule can easily describe the honorable life Jennifer has lived but nothing compares more than the role of being Mom to her son Joe and the honor of being a 'bonus mom' to her husband Dan's three children Brett, Erin and Megan.
